Naofumi Iwatani se encuentra un día en un mundo paralelo donde ha sido invocado junto a otras personas para convertirse juntos en los salvadores del mismo. Cada uno de los héroes apareció con su propio set de equipo legendario al ser invocado y a Naofumi le tocó el escudo. Debido a que Naofumi carece de carisma y es un poco tímido, no tardan mucho en considerarlo el más débil y al tercer día lo traicionan, lo acusan en falso y le roban. Olvidado de la mano de dios por todos, desde reyes al pueblo, Naofumi se sume en una espiral de ira y venganza. Es así como comienza su nuevo destino en este mundo paralelo.
